Ya’ll guess what…I have decided to lean into my creative energy & start a new hobby…making homemade, natural cosmetic products. My first venture is to perfect the lotion bar. I know there are a few fantastic recipes out there, but I have decided to trust my instincts and create without guidance.

Here’s how it went…

Lotion Bars Ingredients

80g of Shea Butter

20g of Cocoa Butter

25g of Beeswax

10g of Candelilla Wax

¼ cup Jojoba Oil

1tbs of Arrow Root Powder

Lotion Bars Instructions

  1. In a heat-resistant bowl, combine Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, and Candelilla Wax.
  2. Heat the mixture using the double boiler method. Stir sparingly.
  3. Once the mixture is fully melted, remove from heat and add the Arrow Root Powder.
  4. Pour melted lotion into a measuring cup.
  5. Pour melted lotion into silicon molds.

Final Thougths on Lotion Bars

I must that I had SO MUCH FUN with this recipe. It brought out a joy in me that I was not expecting. With that being said, I would give this recipe a 7/10.

Pros
  • The chocolate smell! That comes from the raw Cocoa Butter
  • It is non-sticky
  • It gives you a nice sheen
  • The moisture lasts for hours
Cons
  • It is quite waxy.
  • It takes a lot of effort to melt onto the skin.

Overall I would deem this to be a success! What will I do next?
